For what it's worth, here's what I thought of Norah Jones in My Blueberry Nights:

I hadn't realised how pretty she is before. Natalie Portman (who also features) could act the socks off her - but I doubt she can sing like her, too.

It's been a sort of on-standby start to a two-week holiday because the old crocks at work have been falling apart on me the moment I walked out the door. So it's fingers crossed over Agnes' toe, John's back and Lynne's patience.

An emergency shopping trip to Tesco (emergency as in nothing in the fridge) left me pretty awestruck by the number of chocolate Easter eggs to be found there. They are EVERYWHERE - it's somewhat sinister and rather repellent. But I'll admit to a huge surge of parental pride when I collected my daughter from nursery and saw her carrying one. She'd been given it as a prize for her kick ass Easter collage, which I have to say was pretty impressive. I love watching her wandering off and getting to work on her little creations, figuring uses for discarded bits and bobs I'd never dream about, far less execute.

To The Gruffalo with four small children; an hour in a park thereafter and supervision of trampoline action and ice cream eating later. That a 159-minute film (There Will Be Blood) to finish the day. That's more tiring - though sadly lacks the impact - of a three-mile run. In short, I'm pooped.

It was going to take a BRILLIANT film to stand a chance of keeping me awake after a day shepherding three small girls in and out of a car, into a theatre and then around a playpark.

The stage production of THE GRUFFALO - a story which I know inside out, back to front and blindfold - struck me a little like this:

The FILM that I'd pre-booked without thinking of the implications of the day preceding it was the Daniel Day-Lewis Oscar winner, There Will Be Blood. Twenty minutes short of three hours and with a starting time of 8.45pm. It's not unusual for me to be collapsing into bed at that time on a week night...

But that's quite the performance from DDL and, last thing before bed, I summed it up a bit like this:

Grace had a blast with two of her little nursery pals and for once the two's company, three's a crowd thing didn't seem to be a problem. It's brilliant fun (most of the time) watching them interact from a distance.

Dyson cleaned again (nasty!) and washing out, it's now time to sweet talk Vision Express into fixing my ill-fitting glasses and give my new soup creation a whirl. It's not easy being a domestic goddess.
